Upon arrival you will be picked from Kigali International airport by Eco Tours Rwanda representative who will drive you to Kigali town where you will have a city tour. Alternatively if you are already in Kigali, after breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked by our company representative who will take you for a city tour, you will get to visit the Genocide memorial site and the museum among others.
You will have lunch and later drive to Volcanoes national park which takes about 2 hours, check in at the lodge where you will have dinner and overnight stay. Volcanoes National park lies in north western Rwanda. The park is well known for its gorilla tracking and being the home of mountain gorillas. It is also home to five of the eight volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains (Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo), which are covered in rain forest and bamboo. Within this park, it’s where you can do golden monkey tracking and Dianne Fossey’s grave.
On the next day, an early morning wake up call, prepare and have breakfast. With parked lunch you will go to the park headquarters for a briefing and later begin the trek with the guidance of the park rangers. The adventure of tracking the gorillas, May take 1-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. You will stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour. Depending on how long you have taken to get to the gorillas, you will sit with in the forest and enjoy your packed lunch. Later you will visit the twin lakes in the evening to relax, or you stay at the lodge to relax after the long day. Dinner and overnight
Enjoy breakfast in the morning and get to either Visit the famous American Primatologist Dian Fossey’s graveyard she dedicated almost 20 years to studying and protecting mountain gorillas. See where she was murdered from at Karisoke. Dian Fossey is rumoured to have been killed at short notice in 1985 by unknown sources at her research centre in Rwanda’s Volcanoes national park and was buried here. Dian Fossey went through a challenging life as a young girl and began work at a zoo where she developed love and trust for animals. You can go for golden monkey tracking it’s another rare primate you can learn about spend overnight and enjoy meals; Up-market: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge or Gorillas Nest Lodge. Moderate: La Palme Hotel or Volcanoes Gorilla Lodge. Low Budget: Kinigi Guest House or Muhavura Lodge.
