Are you planning to visit the mountain gorillas in Africa on self drive holiday? You can have this self drive gorilla trip experience in Rwanda and Uganda visiting the Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park or the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. I and my girlfriend we visited the mountain gorillas in Rwanda and we did this experience on own drive with the private car rental from 4×4 Car Hire Uganda and Rwanda is so much easier to drive, the roads are so narrow and with sharp corners so the speed limit was so low, in Rwanda for short drive you meet the traffic police controlling the speed and the minimum is 40 Km/hr. and maximum is 60 Km/hr. At first we took the Kigali city tour visiting the Rwanda genocide memorials, local markets and craft shops, after we drove to the Ruhengeri and we stayed at Muhabura Hotel in the Musanze district.

Gorilla trekking experience begins in the morning, early at 7 am be at the park headquarters to experience the Rwanda cultural performances, have coffee and after allocated to the gorilla family go for the briefing about the mountain gorillas and the park conservation area and after we entered into the jungle trekking the Pablo gorilla family and we met very many members in the group and the walk was so  strenuous but amazing to take and we were so happy meeting the gorillas and we gave credit to the gorilla trekkers who were in coordination with the rangers to find the primates. After our trek we visited the Lake Kivu to enjoy the evening sunset sand beach and Lake Kivu Serena Hotel was so nice hotel to spend our night.

Then from Musanze to Kisoro is a short distance drive to reach Kisoro via the Cyanika border and hike to Mount Mgahinga is unforgettable from the nice view of the region. To hike this mount you have to be fit enough with good hiking shores, rain gears, insect repellent, sun screen among others that can protect you from the dangerous insects in Africa. Later we experienced the golden monkey tracking in the jungle and this was as amazing as we found very many other primates and the birds, floras and the butterflies which we very much wanted to see in our life in Africa. It is from this park again where you can take the full day walk experiencing the Batwa Cultural Trail and we enjoyed much more on this trail understanding the life style of once the forest dwellers in Africa. The experience is only $ 80 USD per person and your visit to this group is worth as you join the group of the Eco tourists supporting such the community based tourism and hence promoting the conservation of the park and its resources.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, is said to be the gorilla destination with the high population of the mountain gorillas and it is only here you can have gorilla trekking and habituation experience and the habituation is a new product that has been launched with the 2 gorilla families (Bikingi & Bushaho) and it is only 4 Pax allowed to take this experience per day per group and you can have this at the Rushaga sector and do not miss to stay at the Mutanda Lake Resort at the shores of Lake Mutanda, a volcanic crater Lake. Activities to take are the dugout ride, walking among others that you may want to take on this Lake the lodge will help to arrange. After having all these experience we planned to visit the Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Ishasha southern sector and this is famously known for the rare African tree climbing lions in the branches of the fig trees and this happen during the afternoon when it becomes hotter and these animals tend to look for the good comfort in the trees. Probably on several game drives you can spot them and other wildlife species like the elephants, buffaloes, topi, and oribi among others. Later we drove to the Mweya peninsula and this is where we had an amazing boat cruise along the Kazinga channel that connects Ramsar Lake George into Lake Edward and on this cruise you will experience much more wildlife and bird life species along the banks of the channel, stay at Bush Lodge and you will experience cool environs of the place listening to nice songs of the birds and animals lodging at the shores of the channel and I highly recommend discovering Rwanda and Uganda with the hired private vehicle from the local car rental agencies and none other than 4×4 Car Hire Uganda can offer the best reliable fleets in Rwanda and Uganda.
