Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park lies in south-western Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley. Its mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rain forests. The park is home to about 14 habituated mountain gorilla families. Tourists wishing to track gorillas must first obtain a permit. Selected gorilla families have been habituated to human presence, and the number of visitors is tightly controlled to prevent risks to the gorillas and degradation of the habitat.

Day one starts with a pick up from your lodge or hotel in Kampala and head south-west to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will have a short stopover at the Uganda Equator for an informative talk as well as a photographic opportunity. We will then continue to Mbarara at Agip Motel where we will stopover for lunch. Your drive will take you through Uganda rolling green hills through the highlands known as the Switzerland of Uganda.

The journey will head even higher to where you can see the triangular peaks of the Virunga volcanoes of Rwanda and the Congo. We then drop down into a valley to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest home of mountain gorilla. The night can be spent Buhoma Haven Lodge.

After your early morning breakfast and guide briefing, embark on a journey to meet one of the world’s most endangered species – the thrilling mountain gorilla. A packed lunch, drinking water will be carried along as you track, comfortable boots or sturdy shoes, as well a light rain jacket are also important due to the unpredictable weather of Bwindi Impenetrable forest. Walking sticks will be available from the park rangers.

For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. The ranger guide always briefs you on how to behave with these gentle giants. In the evening, proceed to the village for a cultural walk to interact with the local people. The first glimpses of mountain gorillas will be sure to capture hearts and render most speechless – a just reward for the challenging trek. Viewing gorillas in the wild is a breath-taking and humbling wildlife encounter. Follow our team of expert guides and native trackers as you bushwhack through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in search of a family of mountain gorillas. We recommend two days gorilla tracking however you also have the opportunity to visit with the Batwa pygmy community. The gorillas are shy and peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they play and interact. After the gorilla experience return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

After a sweet breakfast, we will depart early with our packed lunch for Queen Elizabeth Park. We will drive through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth known as Ishasha, famed for its tree-climbing lions. Ishasha is a remote and beautiful extension of Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for its tree climbing lions and exercise our game searching and if we get lucky and spot these tree climbing lions, we proceed to the northern part of the park in time for dinner and an overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge.

After an early morning warm up tea or coffee, we will head for a game drive along Kasenyi tracks in search of animals like: lions, cape buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, water bucks, spotted hyenas, mongoose, Kobs and, if you are lucky, the leopard is often spotted. Over 600 bird species have been recorded in this park and most notably along the Kazinga channel. Return for a full breakfast, relax and prepare for yet another exciting activity in the afternoon.

After lunch you will transfer to enjoy a unique 2-3 hours boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This launch cruise gives you a great opportunity to view and photography wildlife up-close including schools of hippos, elephants, buffaloes among others. The shores of the channel are home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others. Overnight stay back to your lodge

After taking breakfast, depart from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kibale Forest National Park. Kibale Forest National Park located south-west of Uganda has the highest concentration of primates in East Africa with 13 species and overall 60 mammal species and so far offers the best excellent chimpanzee tracking in Uganda. In the evening, you will visit Bigodi wetland sanctuary for a nature walk and go back to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Kibale Primate Lodge

Wake up early for morning breakfast and head to Kanyankyu headquarter for briefing. Kibale Chimpanzees are man’s closet cousins though they are one of the most threatened primate’s species. More primates like Black and white Columbus monkeys, L’Hoest Monkeys, Grey checked Mangabey, Red tailed monkeys, bush babies, pottos and many bird species like the yellow spotted nicator, rumped tinker bird, Little greenbul, green breasted pitta, the crowned eagle, black bee eater and mammals like Elephants can be seen in this walk.

The exciting moments with the chimpanzees will leave you with no other option but to be active with your cameras to make a reserve of remarkable photo that will always take you back to the memories of this wonderful moment.
